About the artist – Sheryl Hicks

Sheryl Hicks was born in Wickam in 1974. Her father is a Ngarluma and Yindjibarndi man from Roebourne. Sheryl spent her early years in Perth with her non-Aboriginal mother, returning to Roebourne when she was 18 years old. She has a family of three daughters, as well as two sons. Her daughters Treinaya and Cheyenne have followed in their mother’s footsteps and are also artists at Yinjaa-Barni Art.

Sheryl works full time in education and paints often in her spare time. She loves coming into the art centre and spending time with her family painting, yarning and listening to stories of Country. Sheryl finds being on Country and expressing herself through art very healing and her new favourite way of connecting to family, Country and her culture.

These are the waterholes of my Country. Even when they are dry there is still beauty. The rich red earth contrasts with the blue water. When seasons change the waterholes are replenished and we enjoy the Country with our families.

Do you offer gift wrapping and gift messaging?

Unfortunately, we do not offer gift wrapping, but it’s on our to-do list to include for the future!

For Gift Messaging, we’ve got you covered.  Just let us know in the Order Notes section that your order is a gift and what message you’d like to include, and we’ll write it for you on one of our postcards.

 

How can I return my order?

All items carry our 30-Day Money Back Guarantee. If, for any reason, you are not totally satisfied with your purchase, you may return your items unused, in original packaging within 30 days of purchase for refund of the purchase price (excluding delivery charges).

Can I collect my order from my local store?

We do offer click-and-collect on any order that can be picked up from our head office at 52A Bishop Street, Kelvin Grove QLD.

Unfortunately, at this time we cannot do click-and-collect at any of our other stores in Australia.

If you do want to pick up a gift from a local store the best thing to do is head to our store page, call your local store, ask whether specific items are in stock and head on down!

What happens if my gifts get stuck in customs?

As the customer, you are responsible for checking customs and duty tax restrictions for the country you are sending your order to. Australia the Gift is not liable for any import duties, taxes, penalties, delays or confiscation you may incur as part of your country’s legislation.

But rest assured, approximately 5% of parcels sent receive a random check by customs in the country they are being sent to.

When this happens, customs may request more information on the shipment contents; and/or contact the person receiving the gift to ensure it’s going to a legitimate person and address; and/or hold the item for a standard period (usually approx. 5-7 working days).

Please keep in mind when ordering large quantities of goods and or potentially restricted items such as wool, food, fur and wood products. To check import restrictions for each country, please use the following link.

Can I send my order overseas?

Of course! We send parcels worldwide every day and all international parcels are sent with tracking and signature on delivery as standard.

If you are wanting to send a gift internationally, please let us know in the notes section of the Checkout and we will ensure that your invoice is not included within the parcel and only attached to the outside for customs inspections.
